Andermatt, SWITZERAND – The Chedi Andermatt is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the “Hotel of the Year 2017” GaultMillau Switzerland Award.
Adjudicated by GaultMillau expert inspectors, the news of this prestigious accolade was announced on 5 September 2016. The GaultMillau is a reputable and influential French restaurant guide which awards points based on the quality of produce, the creativity, consistency, technical execution and presentation of cooking as well as the harmony of individual dishes and menus.
On election, GaultMillau Switzerland writes: “A lifestyle hotel with a fascinating architecture. Restaurants with seductive Asian touch. A spa with 35-meter pool. An 18-hole golf course just outside the door: The Chedi Andermatt is GaultMillau Hotel of the Year 2017.”
The Chedi Andermatt can be found in a quaint village in the Urseren Valley at the heart of the Swiss Alps. Jean-Michel Gathy from Denniston Architects designed the 123 rooms and suites resort, combining Alpine chic with Asian features, making The Chedi Andermatt a sought-after luxury destination.
Led by General Manager Jean-Yves Blatt and Executive Chef Dietmar Sawyere, the “Hotel of the Year 2017” GaultMillau Award is testament to the continued excellence of the staff at the hotel and their consistent commitment to providing unparalleled service and hospitality.
Dietmar Sawyere joined The Chedi Andermatt in 2015, overseeing all food and beverage operations including GaultMillau-awarded eateries, The Restaurant, and The Japanese Restaurant. Sawyere brought his team of chefs from all over the world to create refined, authentic Asian delicacies, receiving fifteen GaultMillau points in The Restaurant and sixteen GaultMillau points in The Japanese Restaurant, where Sushi Master Taniguchi Kazuki and Teppanyaki Chef Yoshizumi Yutaro continue to impress with exquisite creations. The new pop-up restaurant, The Chalet and The Clubhouse complete the culinary offer.
Delighted to receive such recognition, General Manager Jean-Yves Blatt comments: “Our success is based on the “Chedi” spirit: the perfect match of the unique combination of Alpine Chic and Asian Zen. The power of silence of the surrounding alpine mountains. In the care and exclusive hospitality of our employees. And last but not least – because of the nearly unlimited culinary enjoyment.”
The Investor, Samih Sawiris added: “This award is the highlight and coronation of 10 years full of work. We are all truly delighted to receive this award.”
